Boyesen Racing Reeds – Dual-Stage Power for Racing/High RPM Outboards
Complete Set of reeds for OMC, Johnson or Evinrude 2 Cylinder Outboard Motor running over 7,000 rpm.
In every 2-stroke engine, reed petals endure incredible abuse. At peak RPM, they open and close hundreds of times per second. Over time, a single-stage reed begins to lose its ability to properly regulate airflow. When that happens, reed reaction slows, airflow becomes inconsistent, and peak horsepower suffers.
Boyesen’s revolutionary dual-stage reed design solves that problem — delivering more usable power than stock.
Why Dual-Stage Makes the Difference
Stock single-stage reeds operate effectively within a relatively narrow RPM range. Because they rely on a single reed, they simply can’t maintain optimal flow control across the entire powerband.
Boyesen’s design pairs One soft top reed with One firm, flow through bottom reed
This dual-stage combination provides a wider range of intake control while increasing intake velocity. The difference in stiffness between the two reeds allows them to respond quickly and accurately to changes in engine pressure. The result is smoother, more precise airflow at every RPM. Original reeds can’t duplicate this performance.
More Airflow. More Velocity. More Power.
The dual-stage design also allows you to replace your stock reed stop with a Rev-Plate, which permits the reeds to open more freely and function more efficiently.
The bottom reed features a multi-port design, creating additional channels for the air/fuel charge. This increases intake velocity to the ports and generates more overall power.
Because both reeds work in unison throughout the entire powerband, you gain:
- Quicker acceleration
- Crisper throttle response
- Increased horsepower across the RPM range
- More consistent peak performance
Built for Performance
Boyesen Racing Reeds are engineered to perform efficiently from bottom end throttle response all the way to peak RPM. Instead of being limited to a narrow operating range, dual-stage reeds deliver controlled airflow and responsive power throughout the entire powerband.
If you’re serious about maximizing 2-stroke performance, upgrading from stock single stage reeds isn’t optional — it’s essential.
More control. More response. More power.
